One Rank Away from Eagle

Last Night Hans attended his first Court of Honor here in Hotlanta. He has most of the work done for the merit badges he needs, infact he got Personal Management signed off yesterday. He has cycling done and Family Life and Physcial Fitness that need to be signed off. He will get his Eagle right after he turns 14. Okay....so he has kicked some bootie to get to this point and he will continue.

Hans,my dear, I congratulate you on what you have acheieved. I do believe that you and your cousin Chase are the only Scouts in our family in your generation to make it to Eagle. Hooray for you.
I was at the Court of Honor for Chase a few years ago when he was among over 20 Scouts to get theirs that night. Auntie Mouse could tell you how many exactly. There was a fine program centered on each young man, and at the end they had a man with a LIVE EAGLE! How great to see such a magnificient bird that close. The man had a heavy glove on his hand, where the bird perched, tethered by a cord or chain, I don't remember which. They had been sitting in the back of the room and were going up front so he could tell us about these creatures, and just before the few stairs to the stand that good old bird pooped! Right there in the chapel. Has he no respect? The show went on without skipping a beat. It was a great evening. LOve HG

Hans-
You and Chase are the youngest to get your eagles...just about the same age. I'd have to look it up at this point, but I think he had just turned 14 when they had that gigantic eagle court of honor, though he'd earned it 5 months before. But grandma is wrong...all the thomas boys have their eagles...reid was finally awaded his in January...but earned it 1.5 years ago. Spencer & Colin also got theirs as did Elder Daniel Reid Knecht. I don't know about the other Daniel.
As far as geting your project done in Atlanta, my hat is off to you. They are very tuff there..one kid I know who was getting his eagle, but spending his summer at Bear Lake here in Utah and doing his project here had one of the atlanta scout people come out and check his project midway thru...they are much more strict...but you can do it. What do yo think you will do for your project?
Love tou and am proud of YOU!
